When I quarantined after my positive Covid test, I thought I’d just take a couple days, recuperate and things would go back to normal. By day three, I was down bad and needed some company. Hakim Asadi of Beyond Living gave me some tools for coping with being alone…and lonely.

One of my problems that crept up was the idea that I couldn’t be “busy”. For a long time, I had gotten so accustomed to doing that I rarely took a beat to check in with myself. The beauty of Covid (if there is such a thing) is that it forces us to take a breath, check in, and ask ourselves how we’re actually doing.

While I took the majority assessing my physical health, it became equally important and impactful for me to check in with my mental health. Hakim (“Doc” as I call him) talked about his 3-step Invitation to Self. It really broke down how to like myself enough to be okay with being alone with myself.
